The Cooperative Logistics Network surpasses 300 members!

The Cooperative Logistics Network has set a new coverage record by adding its 300th agent. One major factor contributing to this growth is the fact that all members have had to pass a rigorous selection process, so only forwarders of the highest standards are part of the network.

The Cooperative Logistics Network surpasses 300 members!

“I am very excited about the sharp rise in the number of our members which is even more worthwhile bearing in mind the pandemic and the crumbling economy worldwide. As I see it, our key to success is the quality of the network, which wouldn’t be possible if we did not count with such reliable and qualified members. Since the very first moment, there has been a fantastic personal and professional relationship among them, which has surely contrinuted to their cooperation within the network. That is why I would like to thank all of them for their trust throughout these years, and even more in these difficult moments”, says Antonio Torres, the President and Founder of The Cooperative Logistics Network.

This increase had a role to play in the outstanding success of the Virtual Meeting of 2020 and the record attendance of The Coop’s Annual Meeting in 2019 where more than 180 freight forwarders met at Abu Dhabi. Additionally it undoubtedly demonstrates the efficiency, cooperation among partners, productiveness, and expediency of the network which has been operational for the last 5 years.

The Coop is also the first international freight forwarding network with global coverage to launch instant quoting ability for its members. FreightViewer – a member-exclusive transport management software – enables the members to instantly create professional and accurate door-to-door quotations by establishing an automated data transfer of carrier rates and tariffs. This year, The Cooperative has taken a step forward with the enhancements of this TMS by establishing agreements with some of the most prominent shipping solutions providers in the market.

Mr. Torres further adds, “Our team always strives for more and better services, in order to provide members with the most innovative advantages – firstly, through our efforts to improve our TMS – FreightViewer and secondly, with the wide array of logistics and marketing tools. This year, for example, we have created a new personalized online brochure for members and we have launched our blog.”

The Cooperative Logistics Network is presently represented by 305 independent freight forwarders from 130 countries spanning all five continents.

Channel Freight Services India Pvt Ltd, a Coop member in Chennai, India, has hauled a cargo of around 85 tons in a charter flight of Volga Dnepr Airline from Mumbai to Brasilia. The sheer dimension of the cargo necessitated the use of a flatbed trailer while transporting the cargo from the shipper’s location to Mumbai Airport.

The Channel Freight team had to be extra cautious with moving the cargo as the rainy season added to their challenges. In the words of Prashant Chaturvedi, the General Manager of Channel Freight Services, “We had to cover a very long distance from the shipper’s site to BOM airport that too while it was raining. The shipper placed data loggers in the cargo therefore we had to be even more careful. I would like to congratulate my team for pulling off this challenging project without a hitch.”

Congratulations to Channel Freight Services for a job well done!

“FreightViewer is different than other online marketplaces. We are proud to work with The COOP in this project”

After stablishing the partnership with Shipco, FreightViewer Department interviewed Morten Bach- Global Chief Commercial Officer at Shipco Transport- to analyse the current situation and the upcoming digital changes in logistics.

leading digital transformation

Speed in quoting is essential in a market where the difference between one quote or the other has become minimum. This means that, in some cases, who quotes the faster will have the shipment. This is one of the reasons why it’s so important to develop tools such as FreightViewer, states Mr. Morten Bach. He also adds that technology has disrupted in logistics and everything is happening amazingly fast, changing the landscape of logistics.

Mr. Bach also adds that the speed of the market is one of the other big changes in logistics, this is forcing traditional freight forwarders to change their way of thinking. They need to find the strategy to send shipments from A to B as fast as possible, achieve faster information sharing or better order management. And this can be done using different gateways than the traditional.

Under his point of view, it’s important to become global, reaching key partners and the right technology. Being part of a network, which offers a tool such as FreightViewer, means that small-medium companies will be able to become global, being much more competitive and, with the help of technology, being able to handle much more tasks along the process, optimizing their resources. Mr. Morten says: “With the pandemic the digitization process has been accelerated and those companies who didn’t have a great technology strategy have got caught by the new world-wide situation, not being able to serve their clients in the same way or the way they should”

Mr. Morten Bach pointed out the importance of visibility in logistics in order to take control over all shipments. According to his words “it’s essential to provide several options for a shipment to the client, if you don’t give various options to them, they will go somewhere else. Clients need what they need and if you don’t offer it, they will try another option”

To finalize, Mr. Morten states that, currently, there are two different sectors in logistics. Those that refuse to use digital services and those that only use digital resources. This means that we need to develop two different customer strategies, providing service to both groups, but never forgetting that digital trends will be extremely helpful in both strategies.

In the current COVID crisis, leading organizations are starting to pivot and shift from response to recovery. Real-time visibility has become a game changer for the complex supply chains however, the enterprises continue to lack true end-end supply chain visibility. In order to deal with disruptions and lack of information it has become evident that end-end visibility and digitalization are crucial. According to a study conducted by shipping and freight resources, about 60% of supply chain executives said that operations were significantly hampered due to the damage caused to the global supply chain during the COVID crisis.

In the course of her speech, Ms. Moreno touched upon the present economic situation and its impact on the international markets. She also emphasized the fact that the global economy is facing the greatest economic social and health crisis since World War II. To quote Ms. Moreno “This year the global GDP might fall by over 10% while the world trade could shrink by 13% -32% depending on the extent of the global economic recession and the time until when the pandemic will last.” She further adds, “This crisis is also an opportunity for companies which want to secure their position in foreign markets above all for companies which are linked to the primary sector, biotechnology and technology.”

Marisa Moreno has also addressed the changes in the exports to UK in the post Brexit phase. During the presentation, she explained that the COVID-19 crisis has led to a postponement of trade deals and therefore it will be necessary to wait until the next dates to find out which measures will be applied in the export of ornamental plants and the documentation that will be required in the UK borders.

The Coop wishes the very best to Illice Universal Logistics for their future endeavours!

The cloud conference was conducted via an exclusive user-friendly videoconferencing platform created by the IT department of The Coop that led to an uninterrupted conferencing experience. More than 130 members representing over 100 cities worldwide came online to network with their partners attending around 4200 meetings.

As stated by Antonio Torres, the President and Founder of Cooperative Logistics Network, “Although we had to postpone our Annual Meeting at Phuket because of the pandemic, the Virtual Conference saw the coming together of agents representing several major cities worldwide, who got to interact face to face and formulate strategies for enhanced business opportunities in the coming months. Taking into account the current difficult situation, it is more important than ever to foster the spirit of collaboration and work in the network so that all members can get over it stronger.”

The meeting commenced with a speech from Antonio Torres which was followed by the one-to-one videoconferences among members. In course of the two days meeting, members were also provided with an online presentation of all the latest features that had been added to The Coop’s member-exclusive TMS FreightViewer. The new updates of The Coop’s online tool are expected to greatly facilitate the daily office chores of the members and will allow members to make quotations 24/7.

“The event was very well organized, everything was beyond my expectations: the Coop’s support team, the technical support when there was an issue, and all the meetings were timely without any delay. I feel it is really difficult to organize so many meetings on just one platform and to do it with punctuality and without any disconnection. I must say: Congratulations to the whole team of COOP”, stated a Coop member in Karachi, Pakistan.
